Guinness

This advert has stayed with me over the years, the music also catches my attention when I'm not expecting it.

If I remember correctly, it was part of the "widget" series of Guinness adverts.

I also recall having a free screensaver and desktop picture for my old microsoft windows 95 pc, from the cover disc on a pc magazine. Those were the days, no need to download, just buy a magazine ^_^ life was so simple then.

Anyway, here's the advert (from 1994) in question: http://youtu.be/Kr8s17QokoY

Hope you enjoy.

Tate and Lyle, that make me smile.

I have a very clear memory of an advert in the early 1980s by Tate & Lyle Sugar wherein the jingle was "Tate and Lyle, that makes me smile" and then there were children baking cakes on screen. It had a slightly electronica/rap feel to the jingle. If anyone has a copy of this, or even remembers this advert, let me know... I'm going a bit mad thinking I imagined it.

I have an inkling that it played a lot when children's tv was on as I think "Teabag" and "Rod and Emu" adverts had it in (just to clear up the era if anyone's interested).

The photo above is a more recent packet.

I'm wondering if the advert I seek is actually for the golden syrup and treacle that they manufacture...?

Again, any light shed is gratefully received.

Safeway Jingle

The classic jingle that I got used to hearing before they became Morrison. I miss this being on TV.

Cast your mind back to 1986...

...and see if you remember this Gerry Anderson classic!

I grew up watching a whole plethora of children's television like this and it made my day to catch up on the latest shenanigans, from Terrorhawks to He-Man to Ghostbusters (the real).

Many people have asked me why I'm so much more like a guy than the girl I am, I think it's because the action in children's TV shows like these was more appealing than anything else that was aimed at girls at the time, like My Little Pony (still showing) and Care Bears. All far too lovey-dovey for me. I then learnt that I love to climb trees and ride horses bareback. Things that throw a thrill into your life & take you away from the daily humdrum.

I think as adults, we still need to take ourselves away from the daily grind & rekindle those things that excite us.

Do you remember this?

I always love Jon Pertwee, but as this wonderfully played & dynamic character, he terrified me as a child. I think it's because he used to be able to change his head... :/

Worzel Gummidge.
